The Professional Choice

Rising Damp & Lateral Damp

Damp Proofing assessments to domestic and commercial buildings is undertaken by a trained professional using an electronic moisture meter or a thermal imaging camera. Damp Proofing needs to be undertaken when excess moisture travels to the external or internal surface of a wall damaging paint, plaster, and or brickwork. Rising damp occurs when a wall above the ground shows signs of damp. Typical treatment of an affected wall will involve removing damp damaged plaster, injection of a chemical damp course using an injection machine, applying a latex slurry to the exposed wall and re-plastering using a damp proof plaster. Lateral damp occurs when a wall supporting/retaining soil shows signs of damp on the exposed side of the wall. Typical treatment of an affected wall will involve removing damp damaged plaster, injection of a chemical damp course using an injection machine, applying a latex slurry to the exposed wall and re-plaster using damp proof plaster. Damp King’s damp proofing specialists has been damp proofing walls successfully for over 20 years. Damp King has been manufacturing damp proofing products since 1997.

Water Seepage/Drainage

Drainage assessment to domestic and commercial buildings is undertaken by a trained professional using an electronic moisture meter or a thermal imaging camera. Drainage work needs to be undertaken when physical water is collecting at an internal/external point on a domestic or commercial building. The following typical problems will need subsoil.

Water seeping through a floor; In some instances a drainage pipe will need to be installed on the external side of the affected area, leading to a sump with a pump or along a pipe to a lower point. In some instance drainage pipes will be installed under a floor, which will involve removing the floor, installing drainage pipes, new DPC, new concrete and a new screed.

Surface drainage solution; Water collecting alongside a structure a concrete gully/paving to re-direct water.

I just want to express how pleased I am that Damp King, is doing the damp-proofing of our new building. I used another company about 12 years ago, but they just coated the face brick with a sealant that wore off quite quickly and definitely did not do anything to stop the rising damp problem.

We used three different companies over a space of about five years, trying to rectify our damp problem. We ended up losing a lot of money. We then found a board advertising Damp King, and we had nothing to lose and we gave them a try. That was around seven years ago, and the problem is solved.
